Who We Are
Early in the morning on January 8, 2023, Kaitlyn Inez Jenkins, affectionately known as KJ, was an innocent bystander and victim of a senseless act of gun violence in Huntsville, AL while attending a birthday party with friends. KJ had just settled into her new dorm assignment at Alabama A&M hours before and wanted to go out for a night of fun with friends before her busy spring semester started.
KJ expressed to her mother and sister on numerous occasions that she wanted to give back to the communities that gave so much to her over the years. KJ wanted to establish scholarships for young, black girls interested in and pursuing careers in STEM. She planned to start her scholarship fund after graduating.

The Love Like KJ Foundation was founded to fulfill KJ's ambitious plans.
The Love Like KJ Foundation honors KJ’s life and legacy by
uplifting the community through advocacy, education, and love.
